Obituary Valentine Grant Eberhardt was born to John and Mary Eberhardt, November 11, 1878, at the Eberhardt home, seven miles northeast of Glasco. Vallie never married. He bought a farm one mile from his parents' home where he lived until ill health forced him to leave October 26, 1952. Most of the time since he moved to town he spent at the Concordia hospital. He broke his leg June 7th and after that his health failed rapidly. He died at Crestview Nursing home, August 12, 1955, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 1 day. He united with the Highland Baptist Church when a young man and was active as a teacher of the Young Peoples Sunday School Class. He also served for some time as superintendent of the Sunday School. He thoroughly enjoyed farming, raising fine horses and cattle. He took great pride in all that he did. He always raised a few flowers for he loved their beauty and grace. His father and mother, a little sister, Ida, another Sister, Alice Pilcher, and brother, Frank, eldest of the family preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, three brothers, Albert Eberhardt of Glasco, Walter Eberhardt of Kansas City, Kans., J.H. Eberhardt of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Harper of Glasco, and Mrs. Leola Rogers of Concordia; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will cherish the memory of his life among them. The patient way in which he endured his suffering was an inspiration to all who came in contact with him. And now: "God giveth His beloved sleep."
