Description	:	Valentine was the son of Charles Hazen and Patty Emery. They lived in Schuyler Falls, New York. His first marriage was to Orpah Zeruah Terry and they had two children: Pempbroke Hazen born 1854 and Jennie Cynthia Hazen born 1856. After the death of Orpah, Valentine married Mary Avery. They came to Nebraska from New York where they had three children: Kate Ellen, Nathan, and Nellie Grant. Jennie went with her father and step-mother to Nebraska. Joice, Sr., of College Place, Wash., worked on this family for many years, and corresponded with Stan Hazen. Following his ca. 1996 death, his widow mailed to Stan a 3-1/2 in. floppy disk that contained a summary of his work in .GED format. Much of the newer information was taken from that. This material will ultimately reside in the archives of NEHGS in Boston, Mass. According to Paul, Valentine married first, in Vermont, ca. 1843, Orpah Zeruiah Terry. b, in Vermont (date unknown), death unknown. They had two children: 1. Symon, b. in New York State, ca. 1844. Mr. Joice's wife was a granddaughter of Symon's sister, Kate Ellen Hazen. 2. Pembroke, b. at Schuyler Falls, N. Y., ca. 1846; m. Sarah -----; children Ida and Reed, both b. in Neb., Reed in Sarpy Co. Valentine and Mary Elizabeth had seven children: 1. Jennie Cynthia, b. 22 Aug. 1856 or Aug. 1857. 2. Herbert, b. ca. 1859; m. in Sarpy Co., 27 Jan 1874, Isaac Peter Chapman; nine children. 3. Kate Ellen, b. at Omaha, Neb., 22 Aug. 1864, d. at Scottsbluff, Neb., 25 Aug. 1932; m. 17 Mar. 1881, Williston Dixon Chapman. 4. Nathan [or Nathen], b. at Bellevue, Neb., 7 May 1867, m. Lucy Brennan; four chidren. 5. Nellie Grant, b. at Bellevue, 20 Apr. 1869; m. Thomas Shanklin; six unnamed children shown.
