Velma Stansberry was born November 12, 1901 in Davis County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence H. and Ollie M. Stransberry. The family then moved to Moulton, Iowa where she graduated from high school. Read More	Velma Rowenhorst Funeral Saturday At County Seat Mrs. Velma Rave Rowenhorst died Wednesday evening, Dec. 31 , 1958 at the Grossmann hospital following a five month illness. Velma Stansberry was born November 12, 1901 in Davis County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence H. and Ollie M. Stransberry. The family then moved to Moulton, Iowa where she graduated from high school. She became a member of t he Methodist Church at an early age and was associated with the American Reformed Church of Orange City. She received a B.A. degree from Iowa Wesleyan where she was affiliated with Alpha Xi Delta. She taught for many years at Ringsted and was married to Arthur E. Rave on August 23, 1924. In 1941, they and their three sons moved to Orange City where Mr. Rave was depot agent until his death on April 12, 1948. After her husband 's death she taught, for a few years at Boyden and Hawarden, Iowa. She then became a state public assistance worker for Sioux County. She was a Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of Delta Psi Omega, the American Reformed Church Mission Band, and a member of the Orange City Woman's Club. On October 18, 1957 she was married to Herman Rowenhorst. Surviving are her husband Herman Rowenhorst , her three sons: Frank of Los Angeles, Calif., Donald and David who presently attend college. Her mother, Mrs. C. H. Stansberry of Moulton, Iowa, and her three sisters : Mrs. John Junas of Aurora, Ill.; Mrs. Eldon Taylor of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Art Priebe of Lone Rock, Iowa; and one brother Mr. Fred Stansberry of Centerville, Iowa . She was proceded in death by her husband, Arth r. E. Rave, her daughter Beverly Ann Rave who died in infancy, and her father Clarence H. Stansberry. Funeral services were held at 10:00 Saturday morning, January 3, 1959 at the American Reformed Church. Rev. Alvin Hook was in charge. Burial followed a graveside service at the Ringsted cemetery. Alton Democrat 1959-01-08.
