Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christian Church in Stanhope with the Rev. Richard Morris officiating. Burial is in South Marion Cemetery, southeast of Stratford. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the Foster Funeral Home until 8 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be taken to the church. Velma Irene Dick, daughter of L.Q. and Mabel (Kent) Dick, was born Oct. 6, 1907 on a farm near Stanhope. She attended rural school and graduated from Stanhope High School. She attended Drake University in Des Moines and taught in the Williams and Stanhope areas. On Jan. 21, 1933, she married Myron W. Anderson at Stanhope. The couple farmed northwest of Stanhope. They retired in 1971 and moved into Stanhope in 1973. Her husband died in March of 1989. She moved to Crestview Apartments in September of 1989. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Chloris and Don Robinson of Belmond; grandsons, Dan and Rick Robinson, both of Des Moines; sister, Cleo Westrum of Stratford; brother, Mervyn Dick of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Esther Carlson. She was a member of the Christian Church.
