Pastor Wendell Berggren officiated. Velma Maude Nelson, youngest child of Peter and Mary Nelson, was born Jan. 14, 1912, at Barnard, Kans., where she grew to womanhood. She was graduated from Barnard High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College at Hays. She taught school several years in the Freeman and Coursen Grove area and in the Barnard Public School. On June 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Paul J. Studt at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glasco. This union was blessed with three children, Paul W., Phoenix, Ariz., Alice M. Boschek, Tubingen, Germany, and Gary A., Ft. Leavenworth, Kans. They moved to a farm at Ada in 1940 and to the Chicago area in 1955. Upon Paul's retirement they returned to Glasco Sept. 1, 1972. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a regular attendant and participant in church activities. She was a faithful wife and mother and especially enjoyed flowers and children. She departed this life Nov. 14, 1974, after a brief illness. She is sadly missed by her husband, Paul, the three children, daughter-in-law, Pat; son-in-law, Dr. C. Bruce Boschek; two brothers, Lawrence Nelson, Garden City, Kans., and George Nelson, Barnard; three grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Interment was made in the Glasco Cemetery. Organist was Virginia Halderson and the church choir furnished the music. Casket bearers were Melvin Nelson, Paul Nelson, Karr Jackson, Bill Tobald, James Tobald, and Danny Mosher. Dean Funeral Home was in charge.
