Description	:	Vera Wave Hawthorne Jones (December 21, 1890 - February 21, 1973) Born December 21, 1890 in Conway, Kansas. Her father was a physician and surgeon in Gypsum, Kansas, where the family lived, and where Vera received her primary and secondary education. She was graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Kansas State College in 1914. It was here that she met William Raymond Jones of Liberal, Kansas, and after their marriage on May 4, 1915, he decided to go on to medical school, and graduated from the University of Louisville, Kentucky. He practiced medicine in Canton, Kansas... Read More	Vera Wave Hawthorne Jones (December 21, 1890 - February 21, 1973) Born December 21, 1890 in Conway, Kansas. Her father was a physician and surgeon in Gypsum, Kansas, where the family lived, and where Vera received her primary and secondary education. She was graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Kansas State College in 1914. It was here that she met William Raymond Jones of Liberal, Kansas, and after their marriage on May 4, 1915, he decided to go on to medical school, and graduated from the University of Louisville, Kentucky. He practiced medicine in Canton, Kansas for 44 years, until his death in 1966. They were the parents of one son, Edward S. Jones, who is now a practicing physician in Harrisonville, Missouri. After the death of her husband, Vera moved to Harrisonville in 1968. She maintained her own home for awhile, but had been under medical care for several years. While living in Canton, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Past Matron of that organization. She was a member of the Priscilla Club, Parliamentary Club and the Canton Literary Study Club. She is survived by one aunt, Mrs. W. E. Gregory of McPherson, Kansas and four sisters - Mrs. Nola Williamson, Oostburg, Wisconsin; Mrs. Dorris Hesher, Larned, Kansas; Miss Marjorie Hawthorne, Anahuac, Texas; and Mrs. Marowyn Flinn of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by her son, Dr. Edward S. Jones of Harrisonville, Missouri; two grandsons, Stephen E. Jones of Middleton, Wisconsin; and Bradley Jones of Harrisonville; and one granddaughter, Mrs. Pamela Spinelli of Peekskill, New York. There are numerous nieces and nephews, and twin great-granddaughters, Misses Stephanie and Kimberly Jones of Wisconsin and loving friend, Miss Jennie Brown, Canton, Kansas. Services were held Saturday afternoon, February 24 in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Arlyn Conard in charge. Burial was in the Canton Township Cemetery.
