Description	:	Verland Edwin Tietjen, son of Edwin J. Tietjen and Rosa S. Heitmann Tietjen was born June 19, 1926 at Rural Byron, Ne and passed away on April 3, 2008 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He served with the U.S. Army during World War Two in the Philippines and Japan. He was united in marriage to Merna Jean Reckewey on June 6, 1948 and to this union three children were born, Sarah J., Kent E, and Laura L. Tietjen and Rosa S. Heitmann Tietjen was born June 19, 1926 at Rural Byron, Ne and passed away on April 3, 2008 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He served with the U.S. Army during World War Two in the Philippines and Japan. He was united in marriage to Merna Jean Reckewey on June 6, 1948 and to this union three children were born, Sarah J., Kent E, and Laura L. He owned and operated John Deere Implement dealerships in Byron, Superior, Hebron and Belleville for over 50 years. He also started a farming operation and in 1976 he became President of the Byron State Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Rosa Tietjen, one brother, Raymond Tietjen, one sister in law, Norma Doil. He is survived by his wife, Merna J. Tietjen, one son, Kent E. Tietjen and his wife Susan, two daughters, Sarah J. DeRienzo and her husband Chris, Laura Tietjen, Five Grandchildren, Tyler Tietjen and his wife Charlotte, Nicholas DeRienzo of Lincoln, Ne., Michael DeRienzo, Dr. Kimberly Harden and her husband Ian, and Courtney Tietjen. Two great-grandchildren, Logan Tietjen and Natalie Tietjen; one brother, Egbert Tietjen and his wife Mary, two sisters, Lorna Hill and her husband Bill, Deloris Dahl and her husband John, one brother-in-law, Malcolm Doil, one sister-in-law, Bonnie Tietjen, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Interment was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Byron, Ne.
