He married Mary Olerich on 22 JAN 1878 in Mount Carmel, Carroll County, Iowa. They were the parents of Carlotte, Victor, Maude, Mayme, Frank, and Albert Leonard. November 7, 1912 - Carroll Times and Carroll Sentinel - Monday evening at 8:30 the death angel beckoned Vic C. Schirck, one of the prominent and respected farmers of Grant township. While his recovery to health was not expected his death comes a blow to all who knew him. He had been ailing since the first of September and had spent several weeks at Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Upon his return here he was taken worse, suffering from dropsy and asthma and the past several weeks he had been gradually sinking away. The deceased was born September 10th, 1853, and had spent most of his life in Iowa. He was married to Miss Mary Olerich, one of the popular women in the northern part of the county, and until he moved to his farm in Grant township, east of Carroll, 23 years ago, lived near Breda. He is survived by five children; Vic, Junior, of Sheridan township, Frank and Albert who live at home. The daughters are Mrs. Mame Sapp, wife of Jacob Sapp of Grant township, and Maude who is at home. Charlotte, wife of Thomas Lambert, died December 3, 1909. In the passing of this citizen Carroll county loses one of her most prominent and successful farmers. For years he had lived just east of this city and he enjoyed a wide acquaintance here and made a host of friends. In the June primaries he was nominated on the democratic ticket to succeed H.B. Haselton on the Board of Supervisors and the nice vote he received was an indication of his popularity and that the people thought his ability was of the best. He had always been an enthusiastic worker for the democratic cause and his death is the more sad in that he was just about to further work for the county and his party. He was a member of the local Knights of Columbus and his funeral services today, Thursday, were in charge of the order from the residence. The remains were laid to rest in the St. Joseph cemetery this forenoon. As a testimonial to the love and respect which he enjoyed while amongst us the funeral was one of the largest that has been held for a long time. May he rest in peace. - The question which has arisen regarding the election of supervisors caused by the death of Vic Schirck who was the democratic candidate is one which has been puzzling many of our citizens the past few days it seems that opinions differ as to methods to be pursued when the vacancy is to be filled. It was not generally known that Mr. Schirck was dead on election day and many voters cast their ballots for him not knowing otherwise. Mr. Schirck had a very large majority over his republican opponent.
