Description	:	Victor Schieffer was born January 9, 1919, to Frank and Katherine (Guenther) Schieffer at their farm home near Crofton. He attended grade school in Constance, NE, and was a member of St. Joseph parish there. Victor worked as a farmhand in the area and also with his father until 1941, when he married Dorothy Hoesing of Menominee on November 19, 1941. Dorothy born to Elizabeth (Goeden) and Fred Hoesing, April 8, 1920. She received her grade school education in Menominee and was a member of St Boniface parish there. Their first child, Dennis, was born on their farm near Menominee. In 1944, they purchased a farm north of Crofton where 11 children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy in 1947.Dennis, oldest, married Darlene Jaster, living in Yankton, SD; Judy, married Richard Stratman, resides at South Yankton; Joyce, married Wilfred Haberman, Fordyce, resides on a farm; Paulette, deceased; Roger, married LeAnn Bockholt of Crofton, resides at Papillion, NE; Keith, married Kathy Holec, Amarillo, TX; Francis, single, rural Crofton; Daniel, married Karen Murphy, Tulsa, OK; Kevin, married Jill Watkins, Washington, D.C.; Victoria, married Joe Carda, Yankton, SD; Virjean, married Charles Fejfar, Lindstrom., MN; Joe, married Sherry Foxhoven of Crofton, resides at St. Helena. All the Schieffer children were educated in St. Rose Catholic and Crofton Public School. Besides farming, Victor worked on the Gavin's Point Dam Project in the early 1950's. In 1971, Victor moved to Yankton and owned Schiefter Gates. Dorothy remained in Crofton and worked at Ace Cleaners, Yankton, for some years, and later for ten years at Crofton Senior Citizen Center as cook and later as site manager. She served as Extraordinary Ministry of Eucharist in St. Rose Parish and a term as Guild President and was on the St. Rose Parish Hall building committee. Victor died in 1985 and in 1987 Dorothy married Donald Kralicek and moved to a farm near Yankton. Donald's wife (Agnes) died in 1985 also. Donald and Agnes had two children, Donna, who married Wilfred Tramp, Crofton; and Frank, of rural Yankton who married Jolene Kast of Menominee. Donald enjoys working with his son on the farm and prizes his Belgium horses and his Buffalo herd. Dorothy enjoys the return to farm life and maintains her hobby of sewing and quifting.
