Description	:	Alphonse "Bud" was one of 10 children born to Frank and Kathrine (Guenther) Schieffer. He was born on May 4, 1925. He grew up and attended school near Constance. Gertie, one of nine children of Frank and Katherine (Vering) Boecker, was born on February 14, 1926, in Dodge, NE. The Boeckers moved to Crofton, where she spent the rest of her life. He grew up and attended school near Constance. Gertie, one of nine children of Frank and Katherine (Vering) Boecker, was born on February 14, 1926, in Dodge, NE. The Boeckers moved to Crofton, where she spent the rest of her life. Bud and Gertie were married and lived on the Schieffer home place (currently Vernon Schieffer home) until 1955 and at that lime they moved to the current Roger Janssen farm. Bud and Gertie's family began to grow. Their first son, Gary, was born on November 25, 1948. Their first daughter, Joleen, was born on October 16, 1949. Their second daughter, Gladys, arrived on September 7, 1950. A third daughter was born June 14, 1952 and her name was Claudette. The fourth daughter, Cindy was born April 3, 1954, and their fifth daughter, Paulette, was born on November 12, 1955. On October 17, 1958, yet another daughter arrived, and her name is Debbie. The last daughter born to Bud and Gertie was born on January 31, 1962, and her name is Sharon. Bud and Gertie had two sons that were still-born: Francis was born in 1960 and Garrett was born November 8, 1963, at which time, Gertie also passed away during childbirth. Bud was engaged in farming from before their marriage until 1964. He worked a few other jobs throughout the next several years, including working for B.A. Tramp (hauling water), Hesse's Inc. and for the Burbach Elevator. In 1968 Bud moved his family down the road, to the current Keith Goeden residence, where they lived. Bud eventually returned to Hesse's where he became Foreman Mechanic until his sudden death on October 20, 1978. Bud and Gertie's family has continued to grow through the years. Gladys was the first to marry. She married Butch Leise from Wynot, NE, on November 20, 1971. They have two children, Chad and Shane. Cindy was the next to marry. On May 10, 1975, she married John Eskins, Jr., from Hartington. They have three children, Jason, Joshua and Jessica. Both Cindy and Gladys live in Wynot. The third to be married was Gary. Gary married Pam Karlstad from Mayville, ND. They were married on July 2, 1977. They presently live in Osmond and have two children, Nathan and Nicholas. On August 20, 1977, Debbie was married to Brian Wie- belhaus. They live in Crofton and have four children, Joey, Scott, Robbie and Jillian. On August 26, 1978, Paulette married Ron Wieseler from St. Helena, where they presently live, with their three children, Eric, Cody and Sara. On October 21, 1978, Claudette married Emery VVie- pen from St. Helena, where they also make their home, with their three children, Laura, Russ and Kyle. The latest wedding was on September 15, 1990. Sharon married Les Oien from Yankton, SD, which is where they make their home. Joleen is engaged to be married to Mike Kearns and they live in Sioux Falls, SD.
