Her mother died when she was four years of age, when her father removed to Colorado. At the age of eleven she removed to the state of Missouri, where she was married to Mark Hattan at Carthage in October, 1871. To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive. Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri, Jul 2, 1926 - pg 1 Victoria Short was born in Winterset, Iowa, April 10, 1855. Her mother died when she was four years of age, when her father removed to Colorado. At the age of eleven she removed to the state of Missouri, where she was married to Mark Hattan at Carthage in October, 1871. To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive. Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hattan removed to Illinois and from thence to Nebraska, in September, 1885, settling in Nuckolls County, near Angus, in which vicinity she made her home up to the time of her death. Mr. Hattan passed away five years ago. When quite young, Mrs. Hattan united with the Christian Church and held to that faith throughout her entire life. After a lingering illness of 7 months, she passed away at her late home near Edgar, Thursday, June 24, 1926, aged 71 years, 2 months and 14 days, being survived by her seven children, Mrs. Ina Graham, Mrs Cora Powell, Sanford, Ernest and Etta, all of Edgar vicinity, Mrs Edna Moss of Geneva, Nebraska and Arthur Hattan of Weir City, Kansas, besides 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and one brother. Funeral services were conducted from her late home near Edgar, Friday, June 25, 1926, at 2:00 P. M. Charles A. Shook, minister of the Edgar Christian Church, officiating, after which interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery. Undertaker McGhie was in charge of the service.
