She was born February 15, 1931, in Manhattan, Kan., the daughter of Ray and Lewida Fetters, Delphos. She moved to Glasco at age four. She attended Glasco schools and graduated from Glasco High School in 1949. She spent the next year studying at Kansas State University. She married Lowell Halderson, Glasco, in August, 1950, the first wedding in the newly constructed St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco. They made their first home in rural Simpson, moved to a farm south of Glasco in 1958 and later to the city of Glasco in 1963. Lowell "Shorty", a farmer and stockman, died in 1977. Virginia was a longtime active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, an active community volunteer and club member. Her humor and wit were evident to all who knew and loved her. Along with her faith, her family came first, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an accomplished musician specializing in piano, organ and marimba. She was church organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco, for 57 years. She provided music for hundreds of North Central Kansas weddings, funerals, and other special events and served as an accompanist for Glasco High School musicians. She gave private piano lessons in her home for 20 years. Virginia worked in the office at the Glasco Livestock Exchange and the Glasco Agri-Service. In 1989, she moved to Topeka to work for the Kansas State High School Activities Association. Virginia retired in 1994 and moved to Beloit where she worked part-time at two banks and continued providing worship music at area churches. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Richard Fetters. Survivors include a son, Dane (Kim) Halderson, Delphos; two daughters, Gayle Martin, Salina, and Kristen (Greg) Shamburg, Glen Elder; nephews, Jim Fetters, Hutchinson, and Jack (Linda) Fetters, Louisburg, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Drew (Rachael) Halderson; Sarah Giesecke Green; Kimberly (Michael) Martin; Megan (Torey) Hamel; Kelly (Nick) Reling; Morgan (Jared) Schmidt; Aaron Shamburg, and Audrey Shamburg; and five great-grandchildren, Hadley, Lucas, Gracen, Jordy and Parker. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 9 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glasco followed by burial in Glasco Cemetery.
