Burial was in the Guss cemetery. Walter Elwood Osburn was born in Henry County, near Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, April 3, 1872. He was united in marriage to Mary E. [lizabeth] Wirth, May 13, 1896. To this union was born one child, Alva Ray, who died in infancy. They began married life on the farm northwest of Gravity where they resided until failing health forced him to retire to his home in Gravity. He leaves to mourn, his wife, two nephews and a host of friends. In January 1897 Mr. Osburn was converted and united with the Methodist church. In 1907 he received the Holy Spirit and changed his membership to the Free Methodist church and remained loyal to the end. He was a man among men, a pillar in the church, a friend to all.
