Relatives here said the pair, who were married last year in Chicago, were on their way from Hamilton to the South, where Mrs. Gardner planned a stay for her health. Gardner is survived by his bereaved parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gardner, of Horn street; a sister, Mrs. Robert Bawn; and five brothers, Robert, Opal, Ora, Benny, and George Gardner, all of Hamilton, besides many other relatives and friends. Gardner, whose wife was a stenographer under John Passmore, of the Chicago Criminal Courts, worked at the Ford Motor Co. plant here until three years ago, when he went to Chicago, where he has resided since that time. The couple visited relatives in Hamilton about 10 days ago. Last Tuesday they left for the south and were on their way to visit Mrs. Gardner' relatives when the accident occurred. Funeral services, to be conducted in St. Joseph Church, will be withheld pending arrival of the body. Bodies of James W. Gardner and his wife, found in their submerged wrecked car off a highway near Stanton, Tennessee, are expected to arrive in Hamilton Sunday. Funeral arrangements will then be made. Gardner, of Chicago, who died suddenly last Wednesday, a victim of an automobile accident near Stanton, Tenn., was brought to Hamilton Monday morning and taken to the Dawson Funeral Home, 424 South Fourth street. The funeral is to be held from the Dawson Funeral Home, Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., and at St. Joseph's church at 9 a.m. Interment will be made in St. Stephen's cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening. Surviving relatives include his mother, Mrs. C.S. Bobenmeyer; a daughter, Miss Ruth Gardner; two brothers, Robert, of Hamilton and Arthur, of Richmond, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Robert Braun, of Hamilton.
