Description	:	James Keith was born on February 7, 1912, northwest of Nelson, Nebraska. He was the oldest child of Charles J. Keith and Lillie B. (Pester) Keith. Jim was raised on the family farm near Nelson and was educated at the Highland School near Nelson. He joined the Presbyterian Church as a young man. Keith and Lillie B. (Pester) Keith. Jim was raised on the family farm near Nelson and was educated at the Highland School near Nelson. He joined the Presbyterian Church as a young man. Jim was the oldest of seven children and after the death of his parents at an early age, he took care of his three brothers, Kenneth, LeRoy and Neville. On December 16, 1931, James was married to Ruby Holms at the Presbyterian parsonage in Nelson. Jim and Ruby continued to provide a home for Jim's three younger brothers, while raising their own two sons, Carl and Charles. Jim's whole life was devoted to his farming and livestock, his friends and most of all his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed people, visiting and playing cards was a pastime that he enjoyed. James was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Kenneth, LeRoy and Neville. Survivors include his wife Ruby of Nelson; sons, Carl and wife Lyla of Wichita, Kansas, and Charles and his wife Elise of Montgomery, Alabama; three sisters, Wilma Merrill and husband Chester of Hastings, Nebraska, Grace Thomsen and husband Soren of Superior, and Leona Olsen and husband Jack of Seminole, Florida; five grandchildren, Tim, Greg, Steve, Brannon and Leah; one great granddaughter Sarah; other relatives and many many friends. Jim passed away at his home in Nelson on October 12, 1991, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 5 days. Funeral services were held Monday, October 14, 1991, at 2:00 p.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by Blanche Statz and Donna Jensen singing a duet of "End Of A Perfect Day" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" with Jan Schnitker as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Tim L. Keith, Steve Keith, Alvin Potts, Greg Keith, Burton Thomsen and James Newhouse. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson, Nebraska.
