Description	:	Walter H. "Bud" Ellis, 81, died Friday, July 20, 2001 at Thayer Unit, MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville after a brief illness. He had been a resident of Winslow since 1937. He was born July 14, 1920, in Augusta, the son of Walter H. Ellis and Carlini Harrington. He attended schools in Augusta, Houlton and Unity. After high school, he worked at Harris Bakery before enlisting in the Navy in 1942. He served as a Seabee in both the European and Pacific theaters of World War II, attaining the rank of petty officer first class.... Read More	Walter H. "Bud" Ellis, 81, died Friday, July 20, 2001 at Thayer Unit, MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville after a brief illness. He had been a resident of Winslow since 1937. He was born July 14, 1920, in Augusta, the son of Walter H. Ellis and Carlini Harrington. He attended schools in Augusta, Houlton and Unity. After high school, he worked at Harris Bakery before enlisting in the Navy in 1942. He served as a Seabee in both the European and Pacific theaters of World War II, attaining the rank of petty officer first class. (Enlistment Date: 2 Sep 1942, Release Date: 7 Nov 1945) After the war, he worked on construction as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union Local 340, where he worked until his retirement in 1982 at the age of 62. He was a member of the Masons; a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Ward, McCrillis Rousseau Post 8835, of Winslow; and a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cecile A. Pelletier, of Winslow; one 96-year old sister, Beulah Reynolds of Unity; daughter-in-law, Karen Ellis of New Hampshire; granddaughters, Wanda Ellis Krajewski and Maria Ellis Picard, both of Florida; step-grandchildren, Allison Littlefield White of New Hampshire, Wesley Littlefield of Oakland and Trudy Littlefield of Lewiston; several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Patrick J. Ellis of Winslow; his parents of Winslow; brothers, Almon of Winslow, Raymond of Arizona and Lawrence of California; sisters, Carlene Finnemore of Unity, Anna O'Donnell of Westbrook and Shirley Ellis of Portland. Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 25 at 10 a.m. in the new Veterans Cemetery, Augusta. (Published in the Waterville Morning Sentinel)
