Read More	The Dayton Review March 21, 1957 OBITUARY Walter Raymond Berglund Walter Raymond Berglund, son of Emil and Karen Berglund, was born on September 7th, 1907, at the parental home southwest of Stratford, Iowa. He was baptized in infancy and grew to young manhood on the parental farm. On August 13, 1922 he was confirmed in the Stratford Lutheran Church, and has remained a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, faithfully attending its services and taking part in its various activities. On February 8, 1942 Mr. Berglund was united in marriage with Miss Dorothy Charlotte Nelson. To this union three children were born, two of whom survive their father. Mr. Berglund was engaged in farming most all of his life. He was employed by the DeKalb Agricultural Association for a number of years, and at the time of his passing was employed by a manufacturing plant in Des Moines. Mr. Berglund appeared to be in good health and was able to continue with his work, until about a week ago, when he did not feel well enough to go to work. Last Sunday he did not feel well enough to be in his accustomed place at church, and very suddenly, between 11:00 and 11:30 he was stricken with a severe heart attack. He was taken immediately to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Dodge, and seemed to be responding to treatment, when at about 3:45 p.m. he was again stricken, and passed away very suddenly. He is survived by his widow, Dorothy Berglund, one daughter, Rosella, and one son, Steven. A little son, John, preceded him in death in January 1950, at the age of 2. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul and Carl Berglund of Stratford; four sisters: Marie; Mrs. Harold Hoff, of Rockford, Ill.; Elsie; Mrs. Irving Lind of Rockford, Ill.; Velva; Mrs. Matt Hotchkiss, and Audelle; Mrs. Arthur Larson, both of Stratford; his stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Berglund, of Des Moines; two step-brothers, Philip Wistrom, of Des Moines, and Leonard Wistrom, of Burlington; other relatives, and many friends. He is preceded in death also by his parents, and an infant sister. At the time of his passing Mr. Berglund was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, and very interested and active in its work. He sang in the choir whenever possible, and was often a member of smaller vocal groups appearing at special services and organization meetings. At the time of his passing Mr. Berglund had reached the age of 49 years, 6 months and 3 days.
