Description	:	Wellington Wright, son of Johnson and Mary Gravatt, was born October 13 (sic), 1858, in Vandalia, Ia., and departed this life at his home in Chester, Nebraska, July 2, 1933, at the advanced age of 74 years, 8 months and 19 days. Read More	Wellington Wright, son of Johnson and Mary Gravatt, was born October 13 (sic), 1858, in Vandalia, Ia., and departed this life at his home in Chester, Nebraska, July 2, 1933, at the advanced age of 74 years, 8 months and 19 days. Mr. Gravatt was educated in the public schools of Iowa. In early manhood he moved, with his parents, to a homestead in Mitchell County, Kansas, where he remained only a short time, he then went to Nemaha County, Nebraska, where he obtained work on a farm. This locality appealed to him so much that he decided to make it his future home and entered into farming with his brother, Robert. He was married to Jennie Michel on December 26, 1882 at Nebraska City, Nebraska. To this union two children were born. In 1893 he, with his family moved to the farm in Republic County Kansas, three miles south of Chester, where he resided until his wife's passing in 1916, after which he rented the farm and spent about twelve years in Belleville, Kansas. In 1930 he came to Chester where he has resided with his daughter, Mrs. Della Forell, until his death. Mr. Gravatt became a member of I.O.O.F. lodge No. 135 forty years ago and during the time has been a member of good standing. He was also a member of the Masonic lodge of this place. He affiliated with the Methodist Church and was a faithful Christian to the end. For the past eighteen months he was bedfast and was a patient sufferer, his great pleasure being derived from the visits with his friends who came to cheer him. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Della Forell of Chester and Mrs. Viva Weary of Virginia, one grand-daughter, seven grand-sons, one brother, Harry Gravatt of Hunter, Kansas, besides other relatives and a host of friends. "Once more comes the calm of evening And the sun sinks low in the west; The soft summer breeze seems to whisper God's gift to you is sweet rest. "The dull pain in our hearts may grow heavy, For your place none other can still. "Peace is yours in the bright, rosy morning, Sweet peace when the long day is done. When have your hope, your faith and guidance, With God's help we will carry on." -- Viva. Funeral Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. A.K. Williams officiating, assisted by Rev. Frank Gardner. Five grandsons and a nephew were the active pallbearers, and the following were the honorary pallbearers: James Wilson, Hugh Naysmith, Harley Farr, Richard Vaughan, P.A. Throne, John Parker, Wm. Naysmith, and Wm. Davenport. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic) with the I.O.O.F. in charge.
