He was born Sept. 6, 1917, at Lewiston, the eldest son of George and Edith (Hoffman) Hillers. He attended school in Lewiston and married Lottie Furminger on Aug. 16, 1938, at Clarinda, Iowa. He was born Sept. 6, 1917, at Lewiston, the eldest son of George and Edith (Hoffman) Hillers. He attended school in Lewiston and married Lottie Furminger on Aug. 16, 1938, at Clarinda, Iowa. Prior to his marriage, he was a partner of Hiller Bros. Garage in Lewiston. In 1943, he moved his family to Beatrice and worked at Dempster's Mfg. He served in the Armed Forces from 1944 to 1946. He then worked for Wilke Baking Co. for 21 years, before working as a custodian at the Beatrice Jr. High School until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses since 1949. His survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lottie; two daughters, Keryl Lassley and husband Delbert of Beatrice, and Debby Pfingsten and husband Leland of Beatrice; five grandchildren, Erin, Kevin and Jeryd Lassley of Beatrice, Kerry (Lassley) Albert and husband Bruce of Firth and Sara (Pfingsten) Reffett and husband Travis of Beatrice; two great-grandsons Elijah Albert and Zachary Reffett; one great-granddaughter, Ava Albert; two nieces, Bonnie (Martin) Leners and husband Dennis of Virginia, and Barbara (Wickersham) Jurgens and husband Larry; nephews, Gayle Martin of Peru, Bill Wickersham and wife Toni of Texas, Gerald Wickersham of Texas, Don Whitten and wife Ada of Wamego, Kan., Ron Edwards and wife Rita of Missouri. He was preceded in death by parents; two daughters, Lawauna Hillers (1964), and infant daughter Laretta (1943); brother, Cleo Hillers; sisters, Thelma Martin and Twila Wickersham. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at the Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, 623 Elk St., Beatrice, with Robert McLellan officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established to the family's choice. Private burial of cremains at a later date.
