Description	:	Wesley L. Pendell was born Nov. 16, 1829, in Kanawha county, West Virginia, and died at his home in Seward, Nebr., July 5, 1912. He lived in the east until 1850 when the family emigrated to McDonough county, Ill. In December 1853 he was united in marriage with Mary Ann Dailey. Four children were born of this union. He lived in the east until 1850 when the family emigrated to McDonough county, Ill. In December 1853 he was united in marriage with Mary Ann Dailey. Four children were born of this union. Later they removed from Macomb to Prairie City, Ill., where Mr. Pendell was engaged in mercantile business. In 1868 the wife of this young manhood sickened and died. He was married to Mrs. Lydia Jamison Sept. 8, 1868, to whom two children were born. In 1874 he emigrated to Nebraska, settling on a homestead five miles west of Seward and from thence in 1880 to a farm near Leahey, and later he came and resided in Seward. Mr. Pendell was converted early in life and for mroe than fifty years was an official member of the church and for thirty-five years a class leader. For many years he was an annual attendant at the Holiness camp meeting held in Bennett and last summer with great delight he spent a day upon the campgrounds of the Nebraska Holiness near Lincoln. The last monthly Holiness meeting was held in his family residence. March 19, 1907, his wife, Mrs. Lydia Pendell, died. From this date he has been an invalid. A post mortem revealed the fact that his protracted invalidism was due to the kick of a horse. The deceased was elected and served four terms as county commissioner, and was also a road overseer for many years. He is survived by four sons and two daughters, as follows: Milton R. Pendell of Seward; Emory L. Pendell of Wichita, Kans.; Dr. George D. Pendell of Wellington, Kans.; Ed Pendell of Anoka, Minn.; Miss Minerva Pendell of Lincoln and Miss Mary Pendell of Seward. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. A. Mastin, and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the north cemetery. The four sons, assisted by two grandsons, O. D. Pendell of Omaha and Glenn Pendell of Seward, acted as pallbearers. Blue Valley Blade, Seward, NE, Wed, July 10, 1912
