Lena Fiebing, daughter of Gehde and Gaeska Fiebing, was born January 14, 1867, at Oltmansfehn, Ostfriesland, Germany. Pannkuk officiating for Mrs. Lena Von Hagel, a resident of that vicinity fifty-nine years. Lena Fiebing, daughter of Gehde and Gaeska Fiebing, was born January 14, 1867, at Oltmansfehn, Ostfriesland, Germany. When eighteen years of age, in 1885, she emigrated to America and came directly to LeMars. She was united in marriage with Albert Von Hagel August 15, 1888, and they went to farming in Grant Township until 1891 when they moved to a farm in Union county, South Dakota, west of Akron. In 1899 the family moved to Akron where Mr. Von Hagel engaged in the implement business. Mrs. Von Hagel was a member of the Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid society and of the American Legion Auxiliary. She leaves four sons, Gert, Albert and John, of Akron, and George, serving with the armed forces somewhere in England; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Hitzmann and Mrs. Anna Long, of Akron; sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two brothers Henry Fiebing, of St. Paul, Minn., and George Fiebing, of Alcester, S.D.; one sister, Mrs. Chris Carstensen, of Merrill, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ehe Fiebing, of Alcester, S.D. Mr. Von Hagel died June 12, 1936, and three children preceded her in death.
