Description	:	Wilber J. Kelch was born to Michael J. Kelch and Orpha L. (Warner) Kelch on September 18, 1912, at Geneva, and passed away in Geneva on February 27, 1984, at the age of 71 years, five months and nine days. He was one of four children in the family. (Warner) Kelch on September 18, 1912, at Geneva, and passed away in Geneva on February 27, 1984, at the age of 71 years, five months and nine days. He was one of four children in the family. Wilber was baptized in the Catholic faith. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Chelsea Township, moving to Geneva after he married Amelia Weber on February 24, 1938. Wilber was a 30-year member of the Geneva Fire Department and was an honorary member at the time of his death. For 30 years he was an employee of A. Koehler Co. He also worked for Fillmore County and the City of Geneva. Wilber was fond of gardening and playing cards, and he too great pleasure in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Francis. He is survived by his wife, Amelia; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Finke and husband, Norbert of Hebron; brothers, Lewis and wife, Dorothy, and Clarence and wife, Edith, all of Geneva; brother-in-law, Herman Weber and wife, Marcella, of Geneva; grandchildren, Doug Powell, Kim (Powell) Telecky and Becky (Powell) Degenhardt, all of Hebron; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Geneva, on March 1, with Father Walter Banach officiating. Pallbearers were Lewis Kelch, Clarence Kelch, Doug Powell, Max Degenhardt, Mark Telecky and William Kamler. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Geneva. The Nebraska Signal March 15th, 1984 page 5.
