Mrs. Bird died at her home at Mill Gap Saturday night, Dec. 4. A daughter of Samuel B. and Missouri Bird Rexrode, she was born at Mill Gap Dec. 11, 1884. She was a member of the Green Hill United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence D. Bird, and two daughters. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Smith of Mill Gap, Mrs. Ruth Hamilton of Mustoe, Mrs. Mildred Gutshall of Monterey and Mrs. Merlyn Gum of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sons, Alden Bird of Mountain Grove, Bill Bird of Mill Gap, and Charles Bird of Staunton; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Farris of Cincinnati, OH., and Mrs. Maysie Bird of Mill Gap; 24 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons and friends and neighbors attending the service acted as honorary pallbearers. Obaugh Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
