Description	:	Wilfred "Pat" Stevens, age 97, of Huron died Sunday, December 12, 2004, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 16, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Donald Imming officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery. Wilfred Alvin Stevens was born on May 21, 1907, to Michael and Ellen (Ford) Stevens at Seneca, SD. In 1914 the family moved to a farm in Beadle County northwest of Huron. He received most of his education in Beadle County. He farmed with his father. On October 17, 1928, Pat married Alma Lucille Gorham at St. Martin's Catholic Church at Huron. They farmed northwest of Huron, worked for "Shelter Belt" until 1939 when they moved to Huron. He worked for Reese Elevator, Chicago Northwestern railroad and the City of Huron for 33 years in the garbage, park and water department, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, member and past president of State, County, and Municipal Employees Local 169 of AFL-CIO. He worked as an advocate for the railroaders to have one day off a week, group hospitalization and instillation of merit system for municipal employees, one of the charter members of H & B Credit Union, past member of Farmers Union, International Brotherhood of Fireman and Oilers, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen. His interests were fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing, gardening and telling the old stories his way. He is survived by his wife Alma of Huron; one daughter, Mary Trella of Rochester, MN; five grandsons; two granddaughters; many great and great great grandchildren; one sister Myrtle Ulman of Spirit Lake, IA; and one brother, Russell of Rapid City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Howard (Addie) Stevens and daughter Joyce (Larry) Trainor, parents, two brothers, Michael and an infant brother, three sisters, Mary Llewellyn Seeman, Elva Martin, and Madge Johnson.
