E., died early Saturday morning in a Huron convalescent home following an illness of several years duration. Mrs. Stevens was the wife of “Santa Claus,” Stevens and she and her husband for many years distributed Christmas treats to the children of Huron. Mrs. Stevens was the wife of “Santa Claus,” Stevens and she and her husband for many years distributed Christmas treats to the children of Huron. Mike Stevens is presently patient in St. John’s Hospital following a severe stroke suffered Thursday morning. Ellen Ford was born April 2, 1875 at Clear Lake, Ia., the only daughter of Julia and Michael Ford. She was married to Michael E. Stevens at Letcher Oct. 20, 1896 and they moved to Seneca in 1906. In 1917 they came to Huron and this has since been their home. Surviving are her husband; two sons and four daughters. The sons are: Russell of Collinsville, Ill., and Wilfred of Huron and the daughters: Mrs. Roy Seaman, Huron; Mrs. C.A. Johnson, Huron; Mrs. Guy Ulman, Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. Wilford Martin, Long Beach, Calif. Also surviving are two brothers: Martin Ford of Letcher and Ed Ford of Inglewood, Calif., 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sons. The body is at the Welter Chapel. Funeral services will be held in St. Martin’s Catholic Church Tuesday at 10 am., with the Rev. Fr. Martin O’Connor in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Martin’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be six grandsons of the deceased. Rosary will be said Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m., Sunday in St. Martin’s Catholic Church and at 8 p.m., Monday at the Welter Chapel.
