Description	:	In 1933 Tom and Wilfred bought the east half of section 35:42:3:W of the 5th. Jerome worked there also. In August of 1934 Wilfred married Lena Da- miani and they all lived together until the latter part of 1936. In the spring of 1937 Wilfred and Lena moved on to the west half of the section owned by Mrs. Lulu Thorp. They built a little house on this land and farmed it for awhile. Their eldest daughter, Jean, was born in the fall of 1936. Tom passed away in 1937. They moved back to the present farm in the spring of 1938 and their second daughter, Norma, was born in 1939. Wilfred and Lena took over the farm and Jerome went to work on his own on the farm that they had lived on for two years before. The first few years were hard as prices were low for grain and livestock. Wilfred bought an old John Deere tractor and did custom grinding and wood sawing to help make ends meet. When they got a threshing machine they had lots of men around in the fall, mostly boys out of school, so there were no dull moments. Wilfred's sister, Marie Drinnan, became ill in ear- ly 1949 and her two children, Beatrice, four years old, and Forrest, two years of age, came to live with their aunt and uncle. The children's father had passed away one and a half years earlier. Their mother passed away in 1953. The two youngsters were then a completion to Lena and Wilfred's fam- ily. The girls started school at the Blindman Valley School and went there until 1950, they continued to the Rimbey School. Prior to this the girls rode a Shetland pony to the country school and it did as it pleased most of the time so they had some funny experiences. Wilfred and Ted Drader went through their bridge while crossing the creek with a cater- pillar so they had no bridge for some time. Thus the girls had to cross the creek and each time that pony crossed the creek he laid in the water and soaked them thoroughly. Wilfred bought a combine in 1953 or so and it was a lot easier for Lena as they did not need so much help during harvest. They kept quite a num- ber of hogs and range cattle and also fed feeder cattle. They milked a few cows for a number of years. They farmed the north half section of the Loyd place which was owned by Mrs. Beatty until a few years ago when Bruce Tona purchased the land. All the girls became teachers and Forrest took up telecommunications at S.A.I.T. in Calgary. Jean married Keith McColl in 1960. They live in Calgary and have twin daughters, Deanna and Donalee. Norma married William Field in 1958. They also live in Calgary and have two daughters, Colleen and Brenda, and two sons, Ronald and Da- vid. Beatrice married Ronald Warnick and they have two children, Baird and Brie Ann. They live in Fort Saskatchewan. Forrest married Carol Pla- mondon and have two girls, Pamela and Jennifer. They live in Castlegar, B.C. Living on the farm became easier after the Mar- childons got the power and later the phone and then, installed plumbing and the furnace. Wilfred retired in 1977 at the age of seventy. They still live on the farm and have rented it to the Tona's. It is here that they enjoy gardening and the peace and quiet of country living.
