They were the parents of Rosa, Ida, Edward, Mary, Martha, William, Dora, Ella, Minnie, John, George, and Fred. February 17, 1921 - The Pocahontas Record - Wilhelmina A. Wolkenhauer Nee Forke was born in the year 1864 on the 30th of April, Du Page Co., Illinois. She was the oldest in a family of nine children. In early childhood she was received through baptism into kingdom of the triune God. Later, she was instructed in the Christian faith and confirmed. She was faithful in keeping the vow of her baptism and confirmation. In the year 1883 the deceased was united in marriage to the late W.C. Wolkenhauer. Mr. and. Mrs. Wolkenhauer came to this county soon after their marriage and settled on their farm three miles north of Pocahontas. To this union twelve children were born. Those living and present at the funeral are Mrs. Ida Schweitzer, Bensonville, IL, Edward, William, Mrs. Dora DeWall, Minnie, John, George and Fred of this place and Mrs. Ella Peterson, Gilmore City. Death has entered this family circle for the 2nd time within two months. On Saturday evening, December 18, the father was taken by the grim reaper after much suffering and patent waiting, on Saturday morning, February 12, the mother was taken by him unexpectedly and suddenly. She was seen in Pocahontas on Friday afternoon, apparently in good health. After her return from town that evening she mentioned it to the children, that she was not feeling well. But there was nothing about her condition to caused alarm. What a terrible shock it was to her children when they discovered in the morning that her spirit had departed into the beyond. Words cannot express the amazement the announcement caused among relatives and friends of the family. Mrs. Wolkenhauer will be sorely missed by her children as a true mother and by her acquaintances as a true Christian friend. She leaves to mourn her departure besides children and 15 grand children. The family have the sympathy of the entire congregation and community. She attained the age of 56 years, 9 months and twelve days. Burial look place at Pocahontas, Tuesday afternoon Six of her brothers were present and acted as pall bearers: John, Henry, Lewis Forke from Nebr, George and William from Chicago, Frank Forke and wife from Dakota.
