Description	:	Wilhelmina, or Minnie, as she was later called, was born in Kleinaspach, Wurttemburg, Germany, on May 31, 1867. She was the daughter of Gottlieb Obenland and his wife, Catherine Reikert or Riegert. Wilhelmina left Germany on the steamship the Belgenland from Antwerp, Belgium. She arrived in New York on June 18, 1885. Wilhelmina traveled with her cousin, August. Both of the young people settled in Clay Center, Clay County, Kansas. On December 14, 1886 Wilhelmina married Frederich J. Oetinger. The couple had nine children. They were: Emma M. On December 14, 1886 Wilhelmina married Frederich J. Oetinger. The couple had nine children. They were: Emma M. (3/3/1888); Sophia Ione (7/3/1889), Charles Fredrick (1/11/1891); Lydia Dora (3/11/1892), Ernest Gottlieb (11/29 / 1893), Fredrick William (2/21/1899), George F. (9/4/1903) and Harvey Louis (12/30/1905). In the 1900 Census, the family was living in Goshen, Clay County, Kansas. Fred was a farmer, while Minnie kept house for the family. In 1884, Wilhelmina's sister Friederike came to Clay County, Kansas from Germany. Another of their sisters, Sophie, followed in 1892. An aunt immigrated in 1912 as well. In addition, another couple, Christian Carl and Maria Obenland had immigrated to Clay County in 1884. Christian was Wilhelmina's uncle, her father's brother. Wilhelmina passed away on December 8, 1919 in Madison Township, Riley County, Kansas. She was only 52 yrs old. The cause of death was stomach cancer. She was buried on December 11, 1919 in Greenwood Cemetery.
