Read More	Willard Brown was the son of William Brown and Jane Shields Brown. He was the husband of Elizabeth E. He had lived here all his life. Funeral plans are being made by Rumsey Funeral Home. Brown's birthplace was the second home to be occupied by his parents, Mr. and Mrs William Brown. The first was destroyed in the sacking of the city by Quantrill's men. Brown was intimately associated with the life of Lawrence, having served as city councilman a number of years. He began his career as a city mail carrier, later becoming money order clerk and superintendent of mails, from which position he retired in 1919. Thereafter he served 11 years as an office associate with Lawrence Paper Co. He retired from business life in 1930 but continued to devote his time to personal interests including extensive real estate operations. He was the owner of Brown's Grove, a recreation spot popular for years as a site for outings. Brown was interested in politics and was a member of the Flambeau Club which was active in the campaign for President Harrison. He was married to Elizabeth C. Clippard, June 26, 1889, and the two observed their 68th anniversary this year. Of their three children two, Miss Olive Brown of the home and W.R. Brown of Ponca City, Okla., survive, together with Mrs. Brown. A daughter, Mrs. Lucille Brown Rankin, died in 1930. Mr. and Mrs. Brown had lived at their present address since the house was completed six months after their marriage. They previously had lived on the Crutchfield property which later became the W.C. Simons home.
