Description	:	William Addison Dinsmoor was born in Windham, New Hampshire, to William M. Dinsmoor, Jr, and Betsy Barnett. He had at least 6 siblings. He married Mary Ann Folsom in 1839 in Lowell, Massachusetts (just across the state line from his hometown of Windham) and, according to the 1840 census, they had at least one child there, a son. That boy did not survive to the 1850 census however. Residence records for 1849 Lowell, Massachusetts, show William was a “housewright” (home builder) there and had been for at least 16 years. He married Mary Ann Folsom in 1839 in Lowell, Massachusetts (just across the state line from his hometown of Windham) and, according to the 1840 census, they had at least one child there, a son. That boy did not survive to the 1850 census however. Residence records for 1849 Lowell, Massachusetts, show William was a “housewright” (home builder) there and had been for at least 16 years. But by 1850, William had moved his family to Cambridge, Indiana. Wm and Mary had 4 additional children while in Cambridge --two girls Annie and Kate, and two boys, Frank and Willie. Wm and family lived in Cambridge, IN, from about 1850 to mid-1857. William identified himself as a merchant during that time and co-owned a dry goods store there with his brother John B. Dinsmoor. But by November 1857, Will had left the merchandising business and Indiana behind, this time taking his family to the community of Palmyra, Douglas, KS, a township about 17 miles south of Lawrence. He farmed there and made a living doing carpentry. While living in Palmyra, Will was elected Justice of the Peace at least once. Two of their children, Willie and Kate, died in Palmyra a month apart in Jan and Feb 1859, and the family moved soon after, this time just 15 miles north, to the township of Eudora, KS, which lies alongside the Wakarusa River. The Dinsmoor's lived in Eudora for at least 3 yrs (during which time Wm and Mary lost another daughter, Annie, to malaria in 1862). Some time between 1862-1865 Will, his wife, and last surviving child Frank, moved into the bustling downtown area of Lawrence, KS, on New Hampshire St, where it appears Will had a successful carpentry business with a live-in apprentice. Unfortunately after just a few short years residing in Lawrence, William died at the young age of 55.
