William Albert Clem was born Dec. 1, 1890, in Doniphan County north of Good Intent. He was a son of William J. and Laura E. Myers Clem. His parents moved to the present Clem home in Bellevue district when he was a small boy. Mr. Clem's father died when he was 13. He was the oldest son in a family of nine children and he and his brother, Edgar Clem, took charge of the farm at an early age. Albert Clem attended Bellevue School. Dec. 1, 1915 he married Miss Ella Turner of Atchison. The ceremony was performed at the First Christian Church by the Rev. Jesse Bader. Mr. Clem was a member of the Christian Church. When younger he was prominent in church circles. He served 12 years as a member of the Bellevue district school board. He was a member of the Atchison County Farm Bureau. Mr. Clem learned the pattern making trade at the LFM and was a valued employe of the company. He was a hard working and industrious citizen who was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was also a loyal and helpful friend. He leaves his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Ruth) Brenciser, of the home, and Mrs. J. C. (Lois) Boswell, Junction City; four sisters, Mrs. Arnold Altholf, Mrs. William Walz, Sr., and Miss Frances Clem, all of Atchison, and Mrs. Perry (Addie) Underwood, Kansas City, Kas.; a brother, Edgar R. Clem, Atchison and five grandchildren, Dan and Lynnette Brenciser of the home, and Jim, Lance and Shawn Boswell, Junction City. The family recommends memorial contributions to the organ fund of the First Christian Church.
