Description	:	William Bauer, son of Martin and Lena Vogelman Bauer, was born at Broughton, Kan., July 12, 1887. His death occurred on June 24, 1968 at the Clay County Hospital at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 18 days. Will attended school at Broughton. He farmed for several years with his brothers. His death occurred on June 24, 1968 at the Clay County Hospital at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 18 days. Will attended school at Broughton. He farmed for several years with his brothers. In 1913 he bought a farm three and one half miles southeast of Clay Center. He was united in marriage to Viola Fitzgerald on June 19, 1914. To this union five children were born, three of them dying in infancy. Will was a member of the Farm Bureau in the farmers union. He operated a poultry farm and hatchery until ill health required that he retire. During this time he received recognition for having a flock of state accredited leghorn hens. Will still held his interest in farming and helped when the work load became heavy at harvest time. Upon retiring from the farm he and his wife moved to Clay Center on September 19, 1944 to make their home. He enjoyed traveling throughout the country and taking pictures which he shared with others. Flowers, his yard and a hobby of woodworking brought him much pleasure during his retirement years. He was an avid reader and spent much time at the library. Preceding him in death were his mother and father and a sister, Nell Meek, of Melvern, Kan. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery Bio information provided by contributor Andrew Bauer.
