March 11, 2021 William "Bill" Carl Wehunt 74, of Burney, California, passed away peacefully in Palo Cedro on Tuesday, March 9th with his family by his side. He was a loving father, grandfather and soon to be great-grandfather. Bill was born on December 20, 1946 in San Jose, California and moved to Anderson as a young boy where he resided with his parents, Paul and Lucille (Campbell) Wehunt and his 7 brothers and sisters. Bill joined the Navy in 1966 and was wounded during the Vietnam War while aboard the USS O'Brien, DD725 on December 23, 1966. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He came home and married (his former wife) Susan Bosteder. They lived in Corona, California for many years and had three children together. Bill has spent the last 8 years back in Northern California and most of that time in Burney with his significant other, Mary Borders. He enjoyed being back in Northern California where he spent the last of his years very happy. He will be greatly missed by us all. He is survived by his children Deanna, Kimberly (husband Jim Barns) and Jason(Wife Karen); grandchildren Ashley, Sunshine, Mason, Carter, Emma, and Jason Jr. as well as a great-grandchild due to be born this September; his brother, Donald Wehunt and sister, Donna Adair. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lucille, and his siblings Ronald, David, Katherine, Raymond and Gayle. We will be having a funeral and Celebration of life on Friday, March 26th. There will be a Patriot Guard Riders procession starting @ 11:30 leaving from Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel (21853 Honor Ct. Palo Cedro, CA 96073) and the burial will be at 12:30 at the Veterans Cemetery (11800 Gas Point Rd, Igo, CA. 96047). A celebration of life will immediately follow at the VFW (3210 W Center St, Anderson, CA. 96007).
