Landon, widely and affectionately known as "Captain Billy", died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at his home, "Landon Point" on the Little Annamessex River, as a result of a heart attack. Landon, widely and affectionately known as "Captain Billy", died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at his home, "Landon Point" on the Little Annamessex River, as a result of a heart attack. He was 73 years of age. Capt Billy was a native and lifetime resident of Crisfield. He was the son of the late John Henry and Patience Evans Landon. A waterman all his life, he retired several years ago and since then, had devoted his time to his favorite hobbies, fishing and hunting known for his expert opinions and judgement in those fields. Capt Bill had always been an energetic man and was an expert in the seafood field, especially regarding crabs and oysters. His advice was constantly sought and his opinions carried weight. He was a churchman, for many years a member of Immanuel Methodist Church and for a long time a member of its official board. In his dealings with his fellow men he was just and liberal. Living for him was first to work to adequately care for his family, and then to do something each day to help his fellow man. Capt Billy had a good life, and his exemplary habits and leadership in many ways leaves an impress for good on the community. No man had warmer friends, and their great regard and esteem was reciprocated by Capt Billy. There is sincere sorrow in the community at his passing. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p m Saturday in the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home here, conducted by the Rev E. W. Cursey, pastor of Immanuel Church, assisted by the Rev W. H. Dean, pastor of the Church of God, and the Rev Walter Beckwith, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Crisfield Cemetery. Surviving him are his Widow, Mrs Helen Daugherty Landon; and the following children: Mrs. Howard (Fannie) Ward, and Mrs Al (Carolyn) Gunter, of Crisfield, Mrs Robert (Ida Rae) Czarnecki, Colton Point. James C Landon and a foster son, J. Loren Sterling, both of Crisfield: three brothers. Sidney 0 Landon, Sr, Henry Landon and Dewey Landon, all of Crisfield: two halfbrothers. Reginald Landon, Washington, D C , and Harrison Landon, Salisbury: two sisters Mrs. Edna Daugherty and Mrs Mina Ward, both of Crisfield: six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren Friends may call at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home on Main street tonight, Friday.
