Description	:	The funeral for William E. "Bill" Kubik, 87, of Las Vegas, formerly of Fremont, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. He died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 26, 1919, in Pender to Frank and Emma (Zvacek) Kubik. "Bill" Kubik, 87, of Las Vegas, formerly of Fremont, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. He died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 26, 1919, in Pender to Frank and Emma (Zvacek) Kubik. He grew up in Thurston County and was a graduate of Emerson High School. He farmed until entering the U.S. Army. He served during World War II from Feb. 25, 1942, to Sept. 24, 1945, in the Rhineland and Central Europe and received five Bronze Service Stars and the Purple Heart. After his discharge, he lived in Walthill and in 1947 moved to Fremont and worked in construction for Orshek Construction and later for Davis Construction until 1966. He then was employed at Consolidated Blenders until retiring in December 1982. He moved to Las Vegas in March 1999. He married JoAnn Barada on Feb. 14, 1948, in Fremont. He was a member of Desert Springs United Methodist Church in Las Vegas. He was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20, both of Fremont. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans of Fremont, a member of the Fremont Honor Guard and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont. He volunteered at the Fremont Veterans Club and at the Men's Club at Desert Springs United Methodist Church in Las Vegas. Survivors include: his wife; a son, William A. (and wife, Jackie) Kubik of Fremont; three daughters, Bonnie (Mrs. Roger) Koons of Las Vegas, Sandy (Mrs. Rod) Greunke and Linda (Mrs. Keith) Chapman, all of Fremont; three brothers, Pat (and wife, Berniece) Kubik of Las Vegas, Les (and wife, Janice) Kubik of Emerson and Kenneth Kubik of Grand Island; three sisters, Ann Bottger and Sue Newill, both of South Sioux City, and Ruth Mattes of Allen; three grandchildren, John Greunke and Ryan and Jamie Kubik; three stepgrandchildren, Stasi Bohl, Jeni Blank and Billy Case; and a stepgreat-grandson, Gage Blank. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lillian Bonderson, and five brothers, Fred, Ted, Ed, Roy and Mike Kubik. The Rev. Ron Croom will officiate Saturday's service. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. The military graveside service will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church in Fremont, Fremont Honor Guard and Desert Springs United Methodist Church in Las Vegas.
