Description	:	Mr. William E. Ward, resident of Hopewell and a prominent business-man of Somerset County, died on Tuesday of apoplexy of the brain. He was about 53 years of age. Mr. Ward lived at the old home place near Hopewell, with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ward. Read More	Mr. William E. Ward, resident of Hopewell and a prominent business-man of Somerset County, died on Tuesday of apoplexy of the brain. He was about 53 years of age. Mr. Ward lived at the old home place near Hopewell, with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ward. Shortly after 7 o'clock, when he had finished his supper, he went down to one of the farm buildings, where the berry pickers were lodged and was talking with them, He had spoken but a few words when he fell from his chair and while some of the laborers notified his brother the others wept to the assistance of the fallen man, who was found to be unconscious. Dr. Hall was called from Crisfield and rendered aid, as far as human skill could proceed, but Mr. Ward, recovered only for a minute to call "Tom" and them relapsed into a camatose condition and passed away at 10 p. m. Mr. Ward was a kind, courteous gentleman, and had a cheerful word for everyone. Funeral services were held in St. Peters Church, on Tuesday afternoon, and were conducted by the pastor. A great concourse of people were present to testify to the esteem which they held for Mr. Ward. Mr. Ward was unmarried and is survived by three brothers and one sister. The brothers are Messrs. Geo. Ward, of Annapolis, Md., Vance Ward, of this city, and Sam Ward, of Hopewell, Mrs. 0. L. Tawes of this city, is the sister. The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Saturday, June 1, 1907, p. 3.
