Mr. Foster was orphaned as a boy and lived with several Milton-Cantril area American Legion families including the Edith Van Fossen home. He graduated from Cantril High School where he was an outstanding athlete. As a youth, he worked on the farm for Don DeVoss. He was employed in the railroad industry for more than 40 years, serving as a station agent in Douds, Trenton, Mo., Rock Island, Ill., and St. Louis, Mo. He advanced in management positions with the Rock Island and KATY railroads. Mr. Foster served in the United States Air Force as a medic during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Douds Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Masonic bodies and the Shrine, Busch Stadium Club and Missouri Athletic Club, all in St. Louis. Dear husband of Crystal Foster; dear father of Debbie (Mark) Jones and Chyri (Gary) Venetis; dear stepfather of Terry (Linda) Andrews, Alan (Pam) Andrews, Carol (Tom) Hesterman and Chad (Jamie) Andrews; dear brother of Clifford ‘John’ Foster; grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 5.
