Evers of a heart ailment at the Evers ranch 30 miles northeast of this place. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Denton Methodist church with the Rev. Earle G. McKnight delivering the sermon and the Masonic lodge in charge of the services. Burial was made the same afternoon in the Highland cemetery at Great Falls under the auspices of the Great Falls Masons. Mr. Evers was born December 25, 1872, at Dennison, Iowa, and came to Montana in 1889. He was employed for some time on the LaFelt ranch near Billings but in June of that year he and his brother, A.L. Evers, came to the Denton locality where they engaged in sheep and cattle raising on an extensive scale. The two were among pioneer stock men of this area, but when homesteaders moved in their range was restricted to such an extent that they determined to confine their business to cattle raising. Shortly after establishing themselves here they trailed a band of sheep from the Crow Indian reservation through Judith Gap and the Judith Basin to their ranch. The old Everson post office, which was discontinued a few years ago, was named after the family, though the name was changed to Everson. Mr. Evers was a 32nd degree Mason. Survivng him are his widow, Mrs. Emma E. Evers, two daughters, Mrs. D.V. Putman of Missoula and Mrs. C.D. Wolfe of Billings, three grand-daughters, five brothers, J.H. Evers, Shonkin, A.L. Evers, Everson, Ed Evers, Winifred, Theodore Evers, Albany, Ore., and two sisters, Miss Ida Evers, Spokane, and Mrs. Minnie Bucknell, Fort Benton.
