Description	:	The Hon. William Hartwell Kolb was born in 1862 in Lowndes County, Mississippi to parents John E. and Artellia S. Kolb. He was their second child and oldest son. In his youth, Willie, as he was known, moved around in several southern states with his parents, only to return to Mississippi where he settled and raised his family. Boyd, the daughter of... Read More	The Hon. William Hartwell Kolb was born in 1862 in Lowndes County, Mississippi to parents John E. and Artellia S. Kolb. He was their second child and oldest son. In his youth, Willie, as he was known, moved around in several southern states with his parents, only to return to Mississippi where he settled and raised his family. During his youth, he had one of his legs crushed in an accident and the leg was amputated. So, he wore a wooden leg for the remainder of his life. On March 24, 1891, Willie married Elizabeth Y. Boyd, the daughter of Thadius and Catherine Metts Boyd in Nettleton, Mississippi. They had seven children. Willie was educated at the Mississippi Normal College in Houston, Mississippi. After graduation, he taught school for a time. Willie then entered public service, where he served as a Chancery Clerk, a Judge and a State Legislator from Monroe County from 1916 to 1920. He also served as President of the Executive Board of The Farmers Union in Mississippi. His political affiliation was a Democrat. Like so many of his other family members, Willie was an active Presbyterian. He passed away in 1931 in Aberdeen, Mississippi.
