Read More	Former Adams County Resident Died William Harvey Willett died, Wednesday morning, May 4, 1927, at the home of his daughter, L. B. Penton in Villisca. His death was tho result of a stroke of paralysis which he suffered the 3rd of April. Mr. Willett fell some three years ago and sustained a broken hip, which made him an invalid the rest of his life. William Harvey Willett, son of James P. and Eliza Millar Willett, was born Hillsboro, Ohio, on January 6, 1845, He was married to Samantha Jane Beard in Illinois on the 4th of January, 1869, to this union three daughters were born, one of whom died in infancy. The living daughters are Mrs. Omer Day. and Mrs. L. B. Penton, both of Villisca. Mrs. Willett preceded her husband in death some years ago. Besides his daughters Mr. Willett leaves one brother, R. N. Willett, of Nodaway, and four sisters, Mrs. L. H. Higgins of Villisca, Mrs. Ida Bean of Des Moines, and two in Ohio. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In 1876 Mr. Willett came to Iowa and settled on a farm west of Villisca, later he lived northeast of Villisca, in Adams county and later returned to the vicinity where he first located. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. G. A. Lawton. Interment was made in Villisca Cemetery. Mr. Willett stood for the best things in life and was a strong supporter of the right. He will be greatly missed. Adams County Free Press, May 11, 1927, page 5 William Henry Willett, for 52 years a resident of villisca, died Wednesday morning at 6 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs.s L. B. Penton, his death resulting from paralysis which he was stricken April 3. Three years ago he fell and broke his left hip, the accident leaving him an invalid the remainder of his life. Mr. Willett was born at Hillsboro, Ohio, January 6, 1845, and was the son of James F. and Eliza Willett. He was married to Samantha Jane Beard in Illinois on January 4, 1869, to which union there daughters were born, one of whom died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Omer Day and Mrs. L. B. Penton, both of Villisca. The wife and mother died several years ago. Besides the two daughters there are one brother, R. N. Willett of Nodaway and four sisters, Mrs. L. H. Higgins of Villisca, MRs. Ida Bean of Des Moines and two residing in Ohio. There are also four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Willett came to Iowa in 1875, settling on a farm west of Villisca and through his industry he accumulated large land holdings in this vicinity. He lived for a time northwest of Villisca in Adams County, Iowa, returning later to the vicinity in which he first settled west of town. During his active life he was a progressive farmer, generous to charities and a staunch supporter of which he believed to be right. He was a member of the Methodist Church. His funeral was held there Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. Geo. A. Lawton in charge of the service. The singing was by Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Shane, Mrs. S. M. Jolliffe, and Roy Means, with Mrs. Helen Fowler at the organ, and the pall bearers were H. E. Wendling, C. A. Moore, Weklen Hadley, H. W. Gridley, Roy Bryson, and Perry Neal.
