Description	:	William is a son of John, born abt 1791, and Susanna, born about 1804, Anthony of Northampton County, Pennsylvania. His father John, age 22, served in the US Army enlisting August 16, 1813, and discharged at Governor's Island May 12, 1815. He was sick for a time in Philadelphia, and in service at New Utrecht, a town in Brooklyn, on Long Island, New York. John is described as 5'10", gray eyes, brown hair and a dark complexion. The 1850 Lehigh, Northampton County, Pennsylvania Census lists William Anthony, 21, a Boatman, with his parents John Anthony, 59, Laborer, owning real estate valued at $800, and wife Susanna, 46, neither can read or write. His siblings: Sam, 18; John, 16; Lena, 13; Dan, 9; Susanna, 8; and Joel, 6. The US Civil War Draft Registrations Records of July 1, 1863 list William Anthony, 37, born 1826 in Pennsylvania, living at Roxbury, Dane County, Wisconsin. Obituary from Longford or Clay Center, Kansas newspaper- W.H. Anthony Death has again entered our midst and taken home one who will be greatly missed. W.H. Anthony died on November 19th in his home in Chapman Township, Clay County, Kansas. He was born in Lehigh Township, Northhampton County, Pennsylvania on January 18, 1826. On February 28th, 1848 he was married to his wife who died May 19, 1904. To this union six children were born, of which five are living. In 1854 Mr. and Mrs. Anthony left their home in Pennsylvania and came to Dane County, Wisconsin, where they lived for seven years and then moved to LaSalle County, Illinois (also Milo, Bureau County; and Prairie du Rocher and Rutland, Illinois) where they only remained four years. Again they moved, this time to Taylor County, Iowa (Red Oak) where they tarried nine years and then came to Kansas in 1874 where they made a home in Chapman Township, having resided there ever since. Mr. Anthony gave his heart to the Savior in his youth and has been a member of a church ever since. He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and a loyal friend. Four children were present at the funeral. They were Nathan Anthony of Industry, Mrs. Thomas Mills of Manchester, Mrs. Ed (Emma) Johns of Longford and Able Anthony of Longford. The interment was made in the Athelstane Cemetery, Reverend Trauger officiating. The entire community extends sympathy to the bereaved children. - B. William Henry may be the son of John Anthony and Susanna Henrichs.
