Dutcher whose death was mentioned in last week's paper, occurred from the home of his daughter here at 10 o'clock Friday and from the U.B. church at McGuire's Bend at 2 o'clock, Rev. Lester Heck having charge of the services. William H. Dutcher was born July 9, 1842, in Ross County, Ohio, and passed away at the home of his daughter here, February 11, 1920. He removed with his parents to Moniteau County, Missouri, when about twelve years of age, where he remained until June 1862 when he enlisted in Company B, Forty-third Missouri State Guards. He remained in the army until December 1864. In the spring of 1865 he came to Webster county, Iowa, and worked at the carpenter trade and farming, later buying a farm in Yell township, which he later increased in size. On December 12, 1865 Mr. Dutcher was united in marriage to Sarah W. Pierce, Mrs. Dutcher passing away in 1914. Since that time Mr. Dutcher has been making his home with his children, staying with his son Robert and family, east of Lehigh the greater part of the time. He leaves six children, twenty-seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Dutcher was the last of a family of seven brothers. His children, who are left to mourn his loss are: Thomas S. of Fort Dodge; Wm. Ruben and John Richard of Dayton; Nancy Culver and Robert A. of Lehigh; and Sadie of Latham, Missouri. His death was caused by hemorrhage, his sickness only lasting over a few hours until the end came. Mr. Dutcher was held in high esteem by all acquaintances and his death is mourned by all. ******* Son of Charles & Nancy (Ratcliff) Dutcher. He and Sarah had 7 children, including one child that died in infancy. Civil War Veteran 43rd Missouri Militia.
