Newsome was born in Indiana on Sept. 4, 1846, and died at his home in Stratford, on Tuesday Feb. 15, 1927, being 80 years, 5 months and 11 days old. In August, 1910, he was married to Mrs. Mary E. Hook of Stratford and they have lived here since that time. Newsome was born in Indiana on Sept. 4, 1846, and died at his home in Stratford, on Tuesday Feb. 15, 1927, being 80 years, 5 months and 11 days old. In August, 1910, he was married to Mrs. Mary E. Hook of Stratford and they have lived here since that time. Besides his wife, Mr. Newsome leaves behind to mourn his death, three children of a previous marriage: Frank Newsome, Ora Newsome and Velma Fuher, all of Long Beach, California. Also one brother, Asbury Newsome, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and one sister Mrs. Maggie Lyons of South Dakota. For the last year or more Mr. Newsome has not enjoyed very good health and his passing away was not wholly unexpected. Deceased was well known and respected in this locality and while his poor health had kept him from associating with his friends as he formerly did, they nevertheless regret his departure. He united with the Methodist church at Homer during the year 1908 which at that time was a part of the Stratford charge. Funeral services were held from the home and from the M.E. church here Thursday, conducted by Rev. William Bottom. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery.
