William Henry Resewehr, the son of Frederick Resewehr and his wife, Louise Ditz, was born May 30, 1873, in Mecklenberg, Germany, and was baptized shortly after birth. In 1882 at the age of nine he, with his family, came to the United States. They settled in Davenport for about one year. He then came to the Mechanicsville vicinity, moving to Clarence where he worked until his marriage. On Dec. 9, 1887, he married Amelia Lange at Lowden. They made their home one and one-half miles east of Clarence where he began farming for himself. Later he farmed at Stanwood for six years and at Mechanicsville for six years. From there they returned to the Clarence vicinity where he farmed until 1939. Shortly after the death of Mrs Resewehr on Aug. 7, 1938, he moved to the home of a son in Clarence where he lived until his death. Mr. Resewehr was one of the first members of St. Paul's congregation. He was confirmed on April 14, 1889, at Lowden, by the late Rev. J. H. Brammer. He was active in the work of his church and served as a trustee for a number of years. Mr Resewehr had been in declining health for a number of years. However, his death was unexpected when it occurred last Wednesday afternoon. Surviving are four sons, Elmer, Leo, Irwin and Harold; one brother, John; two sisters, Mrs Louise Busch of Ellendale, N. D., and Mrs Fred Feddersen, three grandchildren and other relatives.
