Members of the Sherman county board, of which body Mr. Simpson had been a member, attended the funeral in a group. Mr. Simpson died Sunday after a few days illness. William Henry Simpson, son of Joseph F. and Margaret Lyons Simpson, was born in Loup City, Nebraska, October 5, 1886, and died on May 8, 1938, aged 51 years and 8 months. Except for a few years during his boyhood, which were spent in Illinois and Pennsylvania, Mr. Simpson had lived continuously in Loup City since his birth. He was married on October 28, 1908, to Miss Sophrona Wharton, and to this union one child, Miss Margaret Simpson was born. He is survived by his wife and daughter, one sister, Mrs. Anna Williams, of Nescopec, Pennsylvania and two nephews, Raymond and Ronnie Wharton, who had lived with him for many years. As a boy he was baptized in the Presbyterian church. For one term he was tax assessor of Sherman county, and at the time of his death he was serving his second term as a member of the county Board of Commissioners. He was a man who was known by practically everyone in the county, and by his alert mind, and active attention to and interest in public affairs, he had come to be regarded as a valued public official. He has a large following of friends who are left to mourn his loss. He was a kind and considerate husband, a thoughtful and loving father and a fine friend and neighbor. His passing in such an abrupt and unexpected manner, comes as a distinct shock, and a deep sorrow indeed to all, and especially those who were near and dear to him.
