Simpson Sophronia Cassingham, daughter of Lyman and Catherine Cassingham was born on the family homestead near Loup City, Nebraska, April 18, 1890, and died on July 14, 1942, at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 26 days. Except for a few years of her early childhood spent on the farm, she has lived her entire lifetime in Loup City. Early in life Mrs. Simpson identified herself with Christianity, uniting with the Episcopal church, remaining a lifelong member. She was also affiliated with the Degree of Honor lodge, and took a active part in this fraternity. She was married on October 28, 1908 to William H. Simpson, and to this union one child, Margaret Simpson was born. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 8, 1938. Surviving Mrs. Simpson are her daughter, Margaret, her mother, Mrs. Catherine Cassingham of Loup City, one brother, Charles E. of Denver, Colorado and two nephews, Raymond O. of Honolulu, Hawaii and Ronald O. of Loup City, who have made their home with her since the death of their mother. A sister-in-law and niece of Denver, a sister-in-law of Nescopeck, Pa., besides other relatives also survive her. She was a loving wife and mother, was always ready to do for others and her presence will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the family home, in charge of Rev. W. P. Thompson and burial was in Evergreen cemetery.
