Description	:	Glasco Sun, Sept. 9, 1948: William Irwin Dopp was born July 1, 1862, in Huntington, Pennsylvania, where he was baptized in the Lutheran church. With his family, he lived there until March, 1865, at which time they came to Davenport, Iowa, to join the Jacob Dopp family on a farm six miles north of Davenport. He spent his boyhood on the farm and in his early manhood drove freight wagons from Davenport to Minneapolis, Kansas. With his family, he lived there until March, 1865, at which time they came to Davenport, Iowa, to join the Jacob Dopp family on a farm six miles north of Davenport. He spent his boyhood on the farm and in his early manhood drove freight wagons from Davenport to Minneapolis, Kansas. His family moved to Salina, Kansas in 1887 and in 1888 located in Delphos, and later came to Glasco. He joined the I.O.O.F. lodge in 1888 at Delphos and later became an active member of the Glasco lodge. In 1893 he moved to the present home near Glasco. In 1897 he was married to Sarah Etta Hillan and to them three children were born: Leroy Erwin, who now resides at Dallas, Texas; Dorothy Fern Cruise, of Des Plaines, Illinois; and Wm. K., of Glasco. There are two grandchildren: Eugene Lee Dopp and Sara Ann Cruise. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers, leaving him the surviving member of the family. He leaves on his passing, his wife, three children, two grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held at the Griffith Funeral Home Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1948, at 5:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Eugene Smith, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church. A quartet composed of Jack Davenport, Clive Cramer, Louis Cool and Lowell Nutland sang "Sunset Home," accompanied by Mrs. Edw. Berndt. Mr. Davenport sang "The Lord's Prayer" as a solo. Casket bearers were Don Davidson, Max Martin, Jay Cooper, Harlan Berndt, Jimmy Graves and Lloyd Wyatt. Miss Retta Davidson and Mrs. Roy Martin served as flower bearers. Interment was in the family plot in Glasco cemetery, with Griffith Funeral Home in charge.
