Read More	Source: The Victor Record 10/31/1957 Ladora Resident Dies After Lingering Illness William Maschmann departed this life on Sunday morning at the Veterans' Hospital in Iowa City, after an illness of several months, at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 1 day. He was born near Ladora, Iowa on June 26, 1890, the son of William Maschmann and his wife Caroline nee Rauch. In early infancy he was baptized in the name of the Triune God and later in his childhood he renewed his baptismal vow in the rite of confirmation at St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Victor, Iowa. At death he was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Victor. On Dec. 23, 1920, Mr. Maschmann was united in Holy wedlock with Elba Hawley Maschmann in Victor. This union was blessed with a daughter and son. Mr. Maschmann was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Elba Maschmann; his daughter, Mrs. Cara Nadine Kays of Council Bluff, Iowa, and his son, William Maschmann of Munich, Germany; two grandchildren; six brothers and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the McAninch chapel, with the Rev. C. H. Schroeder officiating. Mrs. Glorine Bowman, Mrs. Hilda Pawlak and Mrs. Wilma Neuhaus sang "In the Garden" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," with Mrs. Margaret Lyman at the organ. Caring for the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hunzelmann and Mrs. M. W. Felton. Pallbearers were Tom Smith, Bob Davis, Merrill Felton, Charles DeDecker, Wayne DeDecker and Raymond DeDecker. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor. Military rites were conducted by the Ladora American Legion. Buglers were Terry Sloan and Blair Feller.
