While in rapidly failing health, Mr. Lee was able to be up and about until Thursday evening before his demise. Deceased, who was in his 71st year, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Lee, early settlers in the Connor district. A kindly, genial man of strict integrity, he was held in general esteem by the people of the neighborhood, who extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family in their time of sorrow and loss. Mr. Lee is survived by his widow, formerly Mary Jane Tortington, a sister of Hugh Tortington of this town, and a family of three sons and two daughters. The latter are Hugh Lee, on the homestead, Clinton Lee and Mrs. Wilmer Palmer, Toronto; Russell Lee, Toronto, and Miss Hazel at home. The late Mr. Lee was an enthusiastic Orangeman, being an old member and a Pastmaster of Connor L.O.L. No. 125. He was a member of the Anglican Church, being identified with St. John's Church, Mono, and was a staunch Conservative. There was a large attendance at the funeral, which was held to St. John's Church Cemetery on Monday afternoon. The funeral service was held in St. John's Church, which was thronged to the doors. Rev. P. C. Howard, the rector, was the officiating minister. Members of the Orange Order were present in large numbers and the impressive committal service of the Order was read over the open grave by W. Bro. the Rev. R. G. Davidson and Bro. John Tortington. The pallbearers were Messrs. David Totten, John Tortington, Hugh Tortington, Joseph Ward, John Ward and George McCulloch. A number of beautiful floral tributes attested to the general sorrow and sympathy for the afflicted family. These included a wreath from Connor L.O.L. 125, a wreath from the Women's Auxiliary of St. John's Church, a broken wheel from the wife, and wreaths from the family, the grandchildren and the friends in Tara. Friends from a distance who attended the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Bert Coleman, Detroit; Mr. Wm. Trelford, Mr. and Mrs. George Trelford, Mr. Wm. H. Trelford and Mr. Wm. Box, of Tara, and Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Lundy and Joseph Tortington, of Toronto. He was in his 71st year and was born on the farm, 2nd line, on which he died. Although he had not enjoyed good health for several years, he did not take seriously ill until Thursday. During his long life he enjoyed the respect of the community in which he spent all his years. He was an honorary member of the Orange Order, a staunch Conservative and an Anglican. His wife survives him, also three sons, Hugh on the old homestead, Clinton and Russell in Toronto, and three daughters, Mrs. McMullen of Albion, Mrs. Wilmer Palmer of Toronto, and Miss Hazel at home. The funeral was held to St. John's Cemetery, Mono, on Monday. We tender sympathy to the bereaved family.
