Although in her 90th year, Mrs. Lee was ill only one week prior to her demise. The former Mary Jane Tortington, Mrs. Lee and her husband spent most of their married life on the Lee homestead, lot 8, 2nd line, Adjala, where her husband died about 23 years ago. She was the oldest member of St. John's Anglican Church, 7th Line, Mono, where she had been an active church worker in earlier life. Mrs. Lee was a kindly woman, devoted to her home and family and always interested in and ready to help her neighbors in times of sickness or distress of any kind. Her passing marks the sundering of another of the few links that remain to connect the present generation with the pioneer settlers of Adjala and East Mono. She leaves to mourn her passing a family of three sons and two daughters, Mrs. Norman McMullin (Ena), Caledon East, Hugh, Orangeville, Mrs. Wilmer Palmer (Edith), Tottenham, Clinton, Toronto, Russell, Kitchener. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Roy Rowley (Hazel) of Ballycroy. A short service was held on Monday, August 30th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McMullin and was followed by a largely attended public service in Old St. John's Church, 7th Line, Mono. Interment was made in the family plot in St. John's cemetery. The officiating ministers were Rev. A. A. Read, rector of Mono East Parish, Rev. F. B. Cooke, of Tottenham, and Rev. P. R. Soanes, of Toronto, a former minister, who left the Mono East Parish about 41 years ago. In his address Mr. Soanes paid a glowing tribute to Mrs. Lee, who was not only the oldest member of St. John's Church, but one of the founders of the Women's Association. The remains were borne to their last resting place by six grandsons, Clinton and Jack Palmer, Ivor and Russell McMullin, Howard Lee and Kenneth Rowley. The flowerbearers were George McMullin, Russell Simpson, Kenneth Kee, Elgin Winchester, Lenvard Purdon, Arthur McGinty, Aldhom Patterson and Lloyd Leggatt. The floral tributes were: Pillow, The Family; baskets, Grandma McMullin and McMullin Grandchildren; Clinton and Muriel Lee, Lorraine and Paul Quarrington; The Kitchener Hunt Club; Friese Brothers, Kitchener; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Patterson; sprays, Grandchildren Wilma and Howard Lee; Kenneth, Keith and Rex Rowley; Aunt Minnie Tortington and family; the Robert Lee family; Mr. Geo. McGhee and family; Geo, Irene and Betty Fludder; Roy Rowley, Arthur McGinty; Kenneth and Daisy Kee; Emily, Cecil and Elizabeth Sime; Clifford and Jennie Duke, Elgin and Mary Winchester; Mr. and Mrs. A. Wilmott; Bertha and Cresswell Walker; wreath, the Palmer Grandchildren; corsage, Grandchild Laddy Lee.
